Congratulations to all my pupils with several placings at the Winter Championships. The highlights of which was Dannie Morgan, riding David and Lia Knox's - Knox's Figaro who won the Inter !.
A Special mention to Liz Killick who looks after FIgaro who was second in the Elem Silver Freestyle on her own horse VIP. Both riders managed to continue their weekly lessons during lockdown.
Some riders were not so lucky and had a few problems on the day but it was a championship, you got there, where many didnt. Be Proud.
Great Test Riding Clinic at Quob - Pre Champs prep for a lot of the riders's
Busy Day at Endall's Farm - sorry not everyone is on here!
I had some Iberian horses come to Endalls for Test Riding practice before the Southern Championships - they worked hard and I had some great feed back from them saying they played their videos over and over.
Caroline and Julie both went on to win their MCI Classes. Congratulations!
Hosted at Endalls Farm this is a prefect opportunity to come and test ride for the Winters. As an International rider and trainer who is also a List 1 judge I can give you a complete 360 take on your test and ways to gain those al important extra marks !
This day is purely for Iberian horses - a first for me!
Hosted by Endalls Farm - come and practice your test in a relaxed and friendly way .
3 pupils competed this weekend at 2 different venues - Elementary, Advanced and MCI PSG all winning their classes. Well Done Elizabeth Killick, Nicola Byam-Cook and Fiona Harter.
An early start today with my first lesson at Quob being at 6:00am!
Keen pupils!!
One minute raining the next bright sunshine - then back to rain again !!
Really pleased with how these less experienced combinations have come on. They are not professional riders but have worked hard to develop their horses correctly without strong aids and whips.
Lovely to see them really enjoying their horses and being able to ride them as they develop self carriage and lightness.
Great to see how Amy, Dannie and Fi have come on the last couple of months .
Go to our Training Clips page to check out their progress!
Good to be back to face to face teaching.
Had a pretty full on day, covering some miles. Here are some of the quotes people have posted about their training.
"Fab first lesson back with Nicky Barrett on lovely Riccochet"
"Screenshot from todays lesson, happy with how Minky is improving. Big thanks to Nicky Barrett for the lesson. Loads to work on as always but the changes are coming along "
"Great training at home today with top trainer Nicky Barrett. All of us abiding by the soical distancing rules set out. So pleased with both boys today, we made some fab progress in both sessions "
"Dreams came true this morning as me and Solo rode our first Advanced test together! It felt amazing to be riding my Solo in a tailcoat and he really felt mega. Im super duper proud of how far we have come together and huge credit and thanks to our amazing trainer Nicky Barrett whos driven us forward over this last year and through lockdown so we could reach this milestone"
Great to be out teaching in person today instead of virtually.
We still need to be careful and follow strict goverment guidelines of social distancing, hand sanitizer, not touching anything, but it felt good!
For anyone self isolating or in a vulnerable group, do still get in touch for virtual training until a time that we can meet in person again.

Juan Matute - sadly now in hospital in Madird , with a brain bleed.
He had been having headaches for a week, got off his horse and collapsed.
He is now in a coma while doctors try to help him and find out more.
Please spare a thaught for him as we pray he pulls through the biggest fight of his life.
Virtual lessons are continuing here for the moment as they are the only means we have.
Clients are managing even if they don't have someone to film for them, by using a selfie stick on the edge of the arena and wireless EarPods.
It's not as good as being there in person but if you know the rider and the horse it's possible and a useful alternative during these difficult times.
This picture sent by a client made me laugh and we all need that to get us through this wretched virus!!
With my online training sessions going well I have had lots of enquires about how I do training online so here is some information so you can get started too.😊
I hope you find these links helpful.

3 online lessons done this morning, now back to gardening. Simon braved the shoppers and stocked up on wine so all will be good. Keep safe everyone and please don’t take risks. You only have to look at Spain and Italy to see what is in store for us.
They were full of very wet, windy days whch made it difficult for the younger and less experienced horses. Congratulations to my pupils who got through and to those that didn't - Dressage is a huge learning curve and I have no doubt that your time will come and I will try harder to help you achieve it.

Many Congratulations to pupil Dannie Morgan riding David and Lisa Knox'x Figaro who got two PB scores to win the PSG on 72.98% and 2nd in the Int 1 on 73.6% at Addington High Profile show last week.
It's been a fun journey working with this horse from when he was 5 years old with 3 different riders and his owners who have always believed in him and given him the time to develop and strengthen at his own pace.
